100 Greatest Rock Guitar Solos(最佳摇滚吉它Solos100排名)。每一个吉他手都有一个对自己最钟爱的SOLO曲目，那下面则是大家公认的最佳排行。这个排行是2004年《Guitar World》杂志的公众投票结果，排名的规则是：先按吉他演奏者、乐团、发行专辑。
100强中主要是Rock风格，简直棒呆了！所幸也听了很多，喜欢不少，把这东东拿出来大家一齐乐乐！但是排名就当作参考啦！毕竟很主观的投票！
摇滚音乐可以说是在市场风靡最久且最具代表性的音乐了。其实细分起来，摇滚音乐包含有许多不同的类型，像是重金属摇滚，庞克摇滚，前卫摇滚等。每一种音乐都有它不同的背景。
Hard Rock（硬式摇滚）
在60年代初期，硬式摇滚并不属於商业化的音乐，如Crcam、Yardbirds、AC/DC、The Who等，当时与其他音乐比较起来，硬式摇滚听起来较有爆发力，也比较重视音乐本身的技巧。但所做初的音乐不是很大众化。硬式摇滚主要融合了蓝调，摇滚，和当时的流行音乐。
Heavy Metal（重金属）
重金属音乐主要在表现乐手本身的音乐技巧，编曲总是特别的长。此类音乐重视音乐本身的创作，所以整张专辑通常不只是一首主打歌。主要艺人包括有Led Zeppelin、Deep Purple、Black Sabbat等
Grunge Rock（非主流摇滚）
非主流摇滚的音乐总是散发出青春的活力，再加上被扭曲的吉他演奏，吸引了不少的年轻人。而这种乐风也启发了后来Punk的热潮，期音乐表现也影响到一些90年代的超级摇滚乐团。非主流摇滚的代表有：Vilvet Underground、Iggy Pop、MC5、The Stooges等。
Progressive Rock（前卫摇滚）：
前卫摇滚在60年代到70年代就开始发展。它是属於试验性质的音乐。编曲较复杂，乐曲也较长。另一个特色就是他喜好用许多先进的电子乐器所做出来的特效。主要艺人有:King Crimson、Rush、Yes、Eloy等。
Psychedelity（嗑药摇滚）：
60年末期到70年代初期流行了一振嗑药风，同时音乐也跟著掀起一阵子的迷幻风潮，此时期的音乐有浓浓的宗教色彩，音乐创作也特别注重在精神和性方面。此时的乐团喜欢用自己独特令类的怪名称当作团名。他们希望使人们相信他们的人生哲学。代表乐团有：Pink Floyd、T2、Van Der Graaf、Generator、The Electric Toilet、Syd Barret
Punk（庞克摇滚）：
70年代末期在英国出现了一种充满了当时年轻人的叛逆文化，广受当时的年轻人的欢迎。但说实在的，当时的庞克音乐实在只有暴力，愤怒，没什么深度，而且每一首歌都非常短，也十分简单。但庞克摇滚也可说是许多音乐的先驱，要是没有它，可能也没有Hardcore、Thrash、Goth等曲风了。代表乐团有:The Clash、Sex Pistols、The Ramones。
Hardcore（极端庞克）：
这种庞克可以说是极端的摇滚乐，主唱一劲爆的嗓音与强劲的节奏，再加上80年代的金属音乐风，让Hardcore受到大家的接受与喜爱。主要的乐团有；Dead Kennedys、The Hard One、DOA、Korn等。
Thrash（鞭击金属）：
这种音乐是在庞克音乐之后演变成包含更劲爆编曲再加上让人亢奋的吉他Solo与重复的强烈编辑金属的主要架构。代表乐团有Anthrax、Testament。
Speed Metal（疾速金属）：
可以算是在鞭击金属与一些注重吉他摇滚之间的音乐风格，虽然他本身的音乐并不像Thrash一样极端，但歌曲经常会利用2个主音吉他手弹奏一段很快的Solo，经常令人陶醉。主要的乐团有：Cacophony、Racer X、Rage。
Death Metal（死金属）：
这种音乐是比鞭击金属还要极端的音乐，节奏快速，但歌词含浑，听起来好像含著水在唱歌。死金属的音乐特色在其音乐意识型态上，例如对於死亡的崇拜、强暴、死尸的变态的主题。主要的乐团有：Six Feet Under等。

While there are many that are commonly regarded as "great", there are lots of others that don't get as much attention. Not too long ago, the editors of Guitar World magazine put together a reader's poll, to find out what their readers considered to be the best guitar solos of all time. The results surely reflect the magazine's demographic (no jazz guitar solos, for example), but no one can argue the following 100 selections boast some great guitar work.
